ALEX MORGAN BIO
Morgan was born on July 2, 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. They raised her along with her two sisters, Jeni and Jeri, in the Los Angeles suburb of Diamond Bar. Morgan was multisport throughout her childhood, but she first discovered soccer at the age of 14. Morgan was a member of the Cypress Elite club team and came first in the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. She also placed third in the under-19 bracket. Morgan continued to work on her soccer skills while at Diamond Bar High School. Morgan was selected as an All-American Athlete by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). She also participated in the Olympic Development Program's state and regional divisions. Morgan continued her career in soccer at UC Berkeley where she was the California Golden Bears' leading scorer from her first season. The team was able to reach the NCAA Tournament in four years and to the second round twice. Morgan was one of four finalists in the Honda Sports Award. She also became the first Hermann Trophy finalist from her school. When she graduated before the end of the year in 2010, Morgan was ranked third in all-time scoring goals and points for Berkeley. Morgan was a soccer player at the collegiate and national levels throughout her education. Morgan was injured in her ACL in her first year as a Berkeley player. She was unable train for the U.S. Under-20 Women's Soccer team until April 2008. Following that she scored her first international goal during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship in Mexico. Morgan was also part of the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup with four goals, earning her team the gold medal among other accolades.Morgan was then recruited by the senior national team where she was substituted, and scored a number of crucial goals. One of them was a win over Italy that secured the U.S. team the final place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player on the team and led the team to victory over France. Morgan was able to win despite the U.S. losing to Japan in the final World Cup match, became the first American player to score both either a goal or assist.
