Sharon Stone worked as a model before moving into film and landing roles in films like Irreconcilable Differences and Total Recall. Her scintillating role in the film Basic Instinct generated a lot buzz. She also starred in Gloria, Sliver and If These Walls Could Talk 2. The actress received nominations for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe for Casino. Stone was able to move into acting in the 80s, making a number of movies and TV appearances throughout the decade. She portrayed the iconic character as Blake Chandler in the 1984 Golden Globe-nominated comedy Irreconcilable Disparities. Also, she was a funny character in the cult comedy film, Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol (1987). Following the win she stepped into a number of dramatic roles, including The Quick and the Dead (1995) and Last Dance (1996). Her decade ended with a handful of unsatisfactory films, including Gloria in 1998 and Sphere in 1999. In 1999, she was praised for her performance as a comedian in The Muse in 1999. Stone suffered from health problems in 2001, following suffering from a severe headache which later resulted in a brain hemorrhage. Stone married Michael Greenburg, a producer in 1984. Three years after, the couple broke up. In 1998 she married again and this time with San Francisco Chronicle Executive Editor Phil Bronstein. The couple adopted their son, Roan Joseph, before their divorce in 2004. Stone has adopted two more sons since then: Quinn Kelly (2006) and Laird Vonne (2006).
